Newborn sessions are quiet, intimate, and centered on connection. Rather than stylized posing, I focus on the way you hold your baby, the closeness of your family, and the beauty & feeling of these fleeting first days & months. These are best scheduled within the first week of birth.

We’ll connect via email, phone, or FaceTime to discuss expectations and choose a date. Once everything is set, I’ll send a booking link with your contract and invoice. A 50% retainer secures your date, with the remaining balance due the day before your session.
02. Booking & payment
During the week of your shoot, I’ll keep an eye on the weather and confirm our exact meeting location and start time. Outdoor portrait sessions typically begin within the last two hours before sunset for the most beautiful light. Most sessions last 60–90 minutes, though newborn sessions may take a little longer. We’ll take whatever time we need to create images that feel natural and timeless.
03. The SESSION
Your images will be carefully curated and edited in my clean, timeless style. Expect natural color, soft tones, and a handful of dreamy black and whites. Portrait galleries are typically delivered within 2-3 weeks through an online gallery where you can download all high-resolution images.
04. Editing & Delivery
Every session includes a René Tate Legacy Box — a small collection of printed photographs delivered to your door. Because while digital files are convenient, photographs deserve to live in the real world. Tucked into albums, passed to loved ones, framed on walls, and discovered by future generations.
05. The REné Tate Legacy Box
Albums, books, and wall art are available if you’d like to preserve your images in a more lasting way. A curated lookbook will guide you through available heirloom options. And if you loved your experience, a kind word shared on social media or Google means the world to my small business.
06. HEIRLOOM ARTWORK & REVIEWS
The process
Yes! Mini sessions are held a few times each year, typically in late summer and early fall. Multiple families are photographed on the same day. Sign up for my newsletter below to be notified as soon as registration opens—spots fill quickly!
Do you offer mini sessions?
For outdoor portrait sessions, I always plan ahead. When possible, we’ll reserve a backup date in case of inclement weather and adjust as needed to ensure the best experience and light.
What happens if it rains?
Portrait galleries are delivered within 2-3 weeks via an online gallery. Wedding clients receive a preview within a week, with the full gallery delivered within one month of the wedding.
When will we receive the images?
A 50% non-refundable retainer is required to reserve your date. For weddings, the remaining balance is due 30 days prior to the wedding day. For portrait sessions, the balance is due on the day of the session.
